Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2 June 2026

Rakus Audio is a one-person operation. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and what we do (and don't do) with it. We've written it to be read, not lawyered through.

Who we are

Rakus Audio is the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. Contact: hello@rakus.audio

What we collect and why

Account data

When you register, we collect your email address and chosen username. You can log in with either your email address or username. We use this to identify your account, deliver downloads and licenses, and send essential transactional emails such as email verification, password reset, purchase, activation, and account-change emails.

Legal basis: contract performance (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).

Purchase data

When you buy a plugin, Stripe processes your payment. We receive a record of the transaction (amount, currency, Stripe customer ID, product purchased) to fulfil your order and maintain an audit trail. We do not receive or store your card details; those stay with Stripe.

Legal basis: contract performance and legitimate interests (financial record-keeping).

License and activation data

We store your product entitlement, license records, and activation records. When you activate the full plugin, we store a device ID (a randomly generated UUID created on your machine), device name, platform, activation date, and activation status. This is used to enforce your activation limit, let you deactivate from inside the plugin, and show device status in your account dashboard.

If you mark a device as lost from the dashboard, we store that lost-device status so the activation slot is freed and the event remains visible for account support and abuse monitoring.

Legal basis: contract performance.

Demo validation data

If you use a demo build, we store demo-session data such as your account, product, device ID, trial start/end dates, next validation date, and whether the demo session is active. The demo uses this data to provide a time-limited trial and periodic online validation.

Legal basis: contract performance and legitimate interests in preventing trial abuse.

Download and update data

When you download a build or check for an update from the full plugin, we may check your account, license, device activation, current plugin version, platform, and requested build type to decide whether the download is allowed. We may store basic download metadata such as the last download time for account and support purposes.

Legal basis: contract performance and legitimate interests in secure delivery.

What we do not collect

Cookies

This site uses first-party authentication cookies to keep you logged in and refresh your session. No third-party cookies, no tracking cookies, no advertising cookies, no consent banner required.

Third parties

We share data with Stripe (payment processing) as a data processor. Stripe's privacy policy is at stripe.com/privacy. We do not sell or rent your data.

Rakus account, license, activation, demo, and product data is stored in the Rakus backend system. Server and hosting providers may process technical data as needed to run the site, app, downloads, and plugin activation services.

Retention

We retain account and purchase data for as long as your account exists plus seven years where required for statutory financial record-keeping. License, activation, demo, and download records are retained for as long as needed to provide the product, manage licenses, support users, and prevent abuse.

Your rights

Under GDPR you have the right to access, correct, port, or erase your personal data, and to object to or restrict processing. To exercise any of these rights, email hello@rakus.audio. We will respond within 30 days.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your national supervisory authority.

Changes

If we make material changes to this policy we will update the date above. We will not retroactively expand how we use existing data without notifying you.
